We are pleased to announce the 6th International Conference of theAphra Behn Society Europe “Gender Cartographies: Histories, Texts & Cultures in the Long Eighteenth Century, 1660-1830” hosted by theUniversity of Huelva under the auspices of the Aphra Behn SocietyEurope. The Conference will be held at Santa María de La RábidaCampus (Andalusian International University) only 11 kilometres awayfrom Huelva city centre, and will run from Wednesday, October 5ththrough Friday, October 7th, 2016. The inspiration of the Conference is first and foremost the literaryproduction, critical resonance and lasting influence of thetraditionally considered first professional woman writer in English,Aphra Behn, though the scope of the event is wider and includeshistorical, textual and cultural approaches to the long eighteenthcentury with a particular focus on women’s writing.We invite proposals from scholars and academics on these relatedfields, but will also welcome papers from postgraduate andpostdoctoral students. We hope to offer participants a productive academic and socialoccasion to share knowledge and interact profitably in a valuablehistoric site. The deadline for submission is May 20, 2016.
