La jornada de constitución de este Talent Lab ha sido dirigida por Reyes Sánchez Herrera, Directora de la Oficina de Transferencia de Resultados de Investigación (OTRI), y Miguel Carvajal Zaera, Director de Proyectos, como coordinadores en la UHU del proyecto HEI4S3-RM. La temática de este tercer Talent Lab está enfocada en las nuevas tecnologías en general y en la 4.0, en particular, que persigue la automatización de procesos industriales: computación en la nube, inteligencia artificial, IoT (Internet de las cosas), robótica, etcétera.

The act of constitution of this Talent Lab has been chaired by Reyes Sánchez Herrera, Director of the Office of Transfer of Research Results (OTRI), and by Miguel Carvajal Zaera, in charge of Research Project, as coordinators at the UHU of the HEI4S3-RM project. The theme of this third Talent Lab is New Technology and Technology 4.0, which aims the automation of industrial processes: cloud computing, artificial intelligence, IoT (Internet of Things), robotics, etc.”.

La jornada estuvo constituida por dos actividades: en la primera, varios alumnos presentaron sus trabajos TFG (Trabajos de Fin de Grado), TFM (Trabajos de Final de Máster) y Tesis Doctoral sobre materias relacionadas con la temática del Talent Lab.

The meeting was split into two parts. During the first part, six students presented their results of their Degree, Master and Doctoral Theses, on subjects related to the objectives of the European project.

Los trabajos expuestos (procedentes principalmente de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería, ETSI), fueron los siguientes:

The works presented (mainly from the Engineering School) were the following:

• Importancia estratégica de los nuevos materiales para conseguir un desarrollo sostenible y la entrada en la industria 4.0 / Strategic importance of new materials for sustainable development and entry into Industry 4.0 (Rosa María Aranda);
• Estrategia de gestión de energía para uso en microrredes renovables e hidrógeno como vector energético / Energy management strategy for use in renewable microgrids and hydrogen as an energy vector (Alfonso Ozores);
• Análisis y evaluación de turbinas para el aprovechamiento energético de corrientes de agua de ríos / Analysis and Evaluation of Turbines for the Energy Harnessing from River Water Currents (Jesús Rodríguez);
• Análisis de Sistemas Dinámicos: estabilidad, formas normales y bifurcaciones / Analysis of dynamical systems: stability, normal forms and bifurcations (Tomás Ortega Ramos);
• Mejora de la fiabilidad de un sistema eléctrico de distribución mediante reconfiguración / Improving the reliability of an electrical distribution system through reconfiguration (Jesús Clavijo);
• TwitchDetect: Inteligencia artificial y procesamiento del lenguaje natural para analizar mensajes de Twitch en directo / TwitchDetect: Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing to Analyze Live Twitch Messages (Alberto de la Torre).

La segunda actividad consistió en una mesa redonda moderada por Reyes Sánchez, en la que participaron los ponentes: D. Félix Carmona, director general de Ariema Enerxia; D. Miguel Ángel Fernández, COO de HP SCDS; D. Miguel Ángel Torres, CEO de JourneyTok; D. Antonio Sánchez Gutiérrez, técnico responsable de Endesa; D. Jacinto Mata,  investigador principal del Grupo de Ingeniería de la Información y del Conocimiento (ETSI); D. Jesús Rodríguez Vázquez, representante del Grupo de Ingeniería Multidisciplinar Aplicada  (ETSI); D. Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, representante del Grupo de Sistemas Inteligentes y Minería de Datos (ETSI); y D. Fernando Gómez Bravo, representante del Grupo de Robótica y Electrónica Inteligente (ETSI). Los estudiantes y todos los asistentes tuvieron la oportunidad de compartir sus conocimientos y de preguntar sobre temáticas vinculadas al Talent Lab a los protagonistas de la mesa redonda.

The second activity consisted of a round table chaired by Reyes Sánchez, in which took part as speakers: Mr Félix Carmona, CEO of Ariema Enerxia; Mr Miguel Ángel Fernández, COO of HP SCDS; Mr Miguel Ángel Torres, CEO of JourneyTok; Mr Antonio Sánchez Gutiérrez, Responsible technician at Endesa; Mr Jacinto Mata,  Lead researcher of the Information and Knowledge Engineering Group (ETSI - School of Engineering); Mr Jesús Rodríguez Vázquez, Representative of the Applied Multidisciplinary Engineering Group (ETSI); Mr Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, Representative of the Intelligent Systems and Data Mining Group (ETSI); and Mr Fernando Gómez Bravo, Lead researcher of Electronic Systems and Mechatronics research group. The students and all participants had the opportunity to share their knowledge and ask the speakers of the round table about topics related to the Talent Lab.

Se intercambiaron impresiones sobre las posibilidades de innovación y las necesidades de colaboración entre empresas e instituciones. Esa colaboración puede materializarse a través de distintas iniciativas y solicitudes de proyectos, algunas de las cuales se relacionan a continuación:

Impressions were exchanged on the innovation possibilities and needs of collaboration among companies and institutions. This cooperation can be carried out through different initiatives as well as the applications in project calls, e.g., as listed below:

• La cotutela (empresa/universidad) de alumnos que realicen su TFG/TFM o Tesis Doctoral en la empresa. Para el desarrollo del doctorado en una empresa, denominado doctorado industrial, hay convocatorias para su financiación pública. Además, la Universidad de Huelva tiene un programa financiado con fondos propios. / Joint supervision (company/university) of students for doing their Degree, Master and PhD theses in a company. For the development of the PhD studies in a company, named Industrial Doctorate, there are public calls for their funding. In addition, the University of Huelva has a funding program to promote them.
• La solicitud de proyectos en convocatorias públicas de financiación. / The application of proposals to public funding calls.
• La promoción de contratos para la realización de trabajos de investigación en empresas. / The promotion of contracts for carrying out research works in companies.
• La explotación por parte de la empresa de la propiedad industrial y/o intelectual generada en las universidades. / The exploitation by the company of the industrial and/or intellectual property generated in the universities.

Entre las principales conclusiones, todos los ponentes estuvieron de acuerdo en que, a pesar de los grandes avances en I+D+i por parte de las empresas y las administraciones, queda mucho por hacer, y sigue siendo necesario apoyar económicamente a las nuevas tecnologías por parte de las administraciones y facilitar el acceso a esa financiación.

Among the main conclusions, all speakers agreed that, despite the great progress made by companies and institutions in R&D&I, there is still much to be done, and there is still a need for governments to provide financial support for new technologies and to facilitate access to this funding.
