Claves para la aplicación de la Terapia de Aceptación y Compromiso en identidad sexual y expresión de género: un estudio de caso

Resumen

La Terapia de Aceptación y Compromiso (ACT) busca promover la flexibilidad psicológica y potenciar un comportamiento acorde a valores. A través del caso de una persona con dificultades relacionadas con la identidad sexual y expresión de género se muestran algunos elementos clave en el uso de ACT para facilitar la autoafirmación proporcionando un acompañamiento efectivo y humano. El cliente de 22 años, con sexo registral masculino, recibió dieciocho sesiones de terapia. La intervención permitió reducir la inflexibilidad psicológica y mejorar la autocompasión, y contribuyó a promover cambios en el aspecto físico, sexualidad y comunicación asertiva. La aplicación de ACT se benefició de una visión abierta, compleja, transafirmativa y despatologizadora de la disconformidad de género y se orientó a promover la exploración de la identidad de género a través de la acción, flexibilizando la relación con las etiquetas sociales. Se discuten aspectos relevantes relacionados con los sesgos y prejuicios del terapeuta.
