Impacto en la familia del diagnóstico de Trastorno del espectro del autismo (TEA) en un hijo/a: una revisión sistemática

En la presente revisión sistemática se analiza el impacto que tiene sobre la familia el diagnóstico de Trastorno del espectro del autismo (TEA) en un hijo o hija. Se obtuvieron un total de 44 trabajos publicados entre 2009 y 2023, cuyos hallazgos indican que el diagnóstico de TEA puede alterar la calidad de vida -con una notable presencia de estrés- y el funcionamiento familiar, con efectos en las relaciones de pareja, las relaciones padres-hijos/as con TEA y con desarrollo típico, así como en los hermanos/as del menor diagnosticado. Dicho impacto está mediado por variables como el apoyo social o los estilos cognitivos paternos. Por todo ello, resultan cruciales las intervenciones para dotar a las familias de estrategias para manejar tanto el impacto del diagnóstico como el día a día con sus hijos e hijas. Por último, futuras investigaciones deberían profundizar en los temas menos explorados como las consecuencias para los hermanos.
