BIOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS UNIT

The main research lines are:

  1. Cellular and molecular bioindicators as environmental quality criteria associated with histopathological and biochemical alterations in animals and plants: early warning biomarkers.
  2. Cellular responses to environmental stress caused by xenobiotic agents (heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, etc.) and their effect on the biology of animals and higher plants.
  3. Enzymatic and non-enzymatic defense mechanisms against oxidative stress of environmental origin.
  4. Distribution models of tree species and the effect of global change.
  5. Vegetation analysis.
  6. Landscape fragmentation and connectivity analysis.
  7. Habitats of Community Interest.
