Abstract

Under the above title, we would like to present the monograph "Language Learning in Multilingual and Multicultural Educational Environments", which brings together a series of studies related to the teaching learning of additional languages.

Language plays an important role in gaining access to any community, whether it is the mother tongue or the host community. It is also the most direct expression of our culture. Learning a language is not only enriching, it can help us to see the world in a culturally multifaceted way, it can make us more open to the "other", to what is different from what we understand to be our group, among other things. Let us remember that learning non-mother tongues has been a social activity as old as humanity itself.
