THE UHU TAKES PART IN A PROJECT TO CREATE A "RESEARCH NETWORK OF EUROPA'S SOUTHWEST" The University of Huelva will lead a project that will allow the creation of a Research Network in the cross-border territory Huelva-Algarve-Bajo Alentejo-Cádiz-Sevilla with the aim to stimulate joint activities as well as the transfer of knowledge between the regions implied, thus, to stimulate the economic and social competitiveness between them. Together with the University of Huelva, take part in this project the University of The Algarve, Beja's Technical Institute, the Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia-CSIC Cádiz and the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology-CSIC Sevilla. RISE, like it is named the project, was approved in the frame of the first summons for the project presentation of the program of cross-border cooperation Spain - Portugal 2007-2013. To create the mentioned Network several actions are contemplated between those who emphasize the accomplishment of meetings between the diverse groups of research of the different zones to establish cooperations as for I+D+I. Likewise, the transparency of knowledge will be favored between the public and private sectors and the different social agents. In the same way, there will be executed diverse innovative projects of I+D+I. In this respect, cross-border cooperations will be realized in the areas of environment, food-processing sector, health and heritage. The projects will complement each other with the training and exchange of human specialized resources, as well as with the creation of a new scientific instrumentation.
With all this one tries to increase the knowledge in the sectors of environment, health, agrifoodstuffs and heritage, the sustainable development being favored in the zone of execution of the project.
