The different changes that nowadays societies are undergoing have raised some formative needs that require a detailed research into the training strategies, qualification and accreditation on behalf of those institutions carrying out these tasks.
Nowadays, there are leading efforts to favour graduates’ internships in the European space. However, the linguistic diversity in Europe is still the main barrier for citizens to move freely in a continent without frontiers, enriching though this experience may be.
For this reason, it is necessary to promote language learning in order to allow communication among the EEC member states. The labour market demand for language teaching professionals affects both the ways in which employment is conceived and the professional utilization procedures, and is closely linked to the initial and continuing formation offered by the universities.
The interest in the design of the expert in language teaching is not only connected to the academic world, but also to business, as they have several concerns in common:
- Current dissociation between training and employment.
- Lack of advanced training in the teaching of European languages.
- Lack of guidance in relation to possible work opportunities to enable greater communication and mobility among the speakers of the different EU memberstates.
